“All study visits and similar trips have been cancelled at the federal level,” the Prime Minister stated. Even for necessary official journeys, delegation sizes have been drastically reduced, and accommodation standards have been downgraded, reflecting a profound shift in how public funds are managed.

From Luxury Suites to Essential Aid

The days of lavish government spending on travel and accommodation are being phased out. The Prime Minister highlighted examples of how the government is economizing, such as reducing delegation sizes from six people to just two for official visits, and opting for Junior Suites instead of Royal Suites.

These practical adjustments, he explained, are crucial for the nation's financial health. "If we do not exercise wisdom and prudence in spending, the country cannot be saved. The money we save is channelled back to the people," Anwar emphasized.

Combating Corruption, Rebuilding Trust

Beyond mere cost-cutting, the government is intensifying its efforts to strengthen governance and combat corruption. Prime Minister Anwar stressed that these actions are not politically motivated but are fundamental to restoring the country's financial standing and ensuring public trust.

The savings generated through these stringent measures, coupled with the recovery of misappropriated funds, have already enabled substantial financial injections back into the economy. A remarkable RM15.5 billion has been channeled to the people through various vital initiatives.

Furthermore, the government has allocated an additional RM1 billion for the critical repair of tens of thousands of school toilets nationwide.
