The Kukup state seat is set for a direct contest between Cheah Chee Hong of Pakatan Harapan and Md Israk Abdullah representing Barisan Nasional. The constituency is home to 34,968 registered voters, with Malays forming the largest demographic group at 60.07 percent, followed by Chinese voters at 36.85 percent, and Indians at 0.89 percent. The remaining voters originate from Sabah and Sarawak.

The Johor state election is scheduled for July 11, with early voting taking place on July 7. The outcome of this election will significantly shape the implementation of economic development plans and the future of the local community in Kukup.
